Its Rehearsal time! Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance or The Slave of Duty We aim to put on our next show this June from the 23rd to the 26th inclusive. With just three months to go, the Rhos-on-Sea Savoyards are always on the lookout for new singers to join our chorus - everyone is welcome.
So what do you do every evening?
Okay, so not quite in the right order. Would you consider something different? My first contact with the Rhos-on-Sea Savoyards was somewhat rushed. I have never even considered dramatics before and you can read about my experience if you wish. My first contact. I think that I should point out that the experience is not necessarily typical. Since this time I have done another show, and really enjoyed it. I plan on taking part in the latest show as well. I find it quite a challenge to have to learn the songs and the lines, but the sense of achievement when it all comes together is a real rush. Whether you want to take part, or just want to get hold of tickets for the next show, I will be more than happy to hear from you at mike@savoyards.org.uk. What have you got to lose? The Pirates of Penzance is probably one of the more commonly recognised Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Young Fredrick, who has been apprenticed to a bunch of pirates, has finally completed his indentures. He decides to leave his comrades, and unable to convince them to become 'honest men' he vows to elliminate them if he possibly can. Even before he gets started upon his ventures, he runs into the beautiful Mabel, one of the many daughters of the Major General. Most of us recognise the Major General's song, 'I am the very model of a modern major general'. Fredrick joins forces with the local constabulary to deal with the pirates. However, life is never simple, and in the world of Gilbert and Sullivan this is more true than in real life. Fredrick very quickly finds himself embroiled in tricky decisions - just like in real life! Rehearsals every Tuesday, at 7:30 PM in The Court House (beside the Police station), Rhiw Road, Colwyn Bay, North Wales See you there! |
